The godfather’s consigliere | Going to the mattresses…
Consigliere, named for the Mafia position and made famous by Tom Hagen in The Godfather. In case you were wondering: [con-sill-YEH-reh] or sort of, it’s the Italian name for advisor or counsellor and plays a key role in the structure of the ‘Cosa Nostra’ – the Mafia.
A Consigliere is a Number Two who is the Number One’s voice of reason. There’s a high likelihood that he is a retained lawyer. Generally, the Consigliere is the number three person in a crime family, after the boss and underboss in most cases. His council is vital in war times against other crime families. His advice is most valuable to the boss because he’s usually right, which puts him in a unique position to ‘Speak Truth To Power’. The Consigliere is often the smartest guy in the room, or just a calming influence to a hot-blooded boss. Get your Consigliere poster in our Shop.
The artwork shows the word Consigliere controlled from above using strings, alluding to the 1972 movie title The Godfather. The phonetics [:kônsélye-re] are written in blood red letters. Various mixed vector techniques and grunge have been used to give the artwork a cool vintage look. Made doing a favour here in Sweden.
Inspired by the epic movie trilogy The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola.
